About Horses & Hounds

Sue founded Horses and Hounds in 2006. After looking at many rental options she decided to build a 12 000 sq ft building in Granby. It was the first Purina premier dealership to be opened in the Northeast. Her background in animals husbandry started at a young age. She has been around horses since she was seven and discovered sheep when she was 35. Sue was active in 4H for many years as a sheep leader. She is also a mom to two boys and owns a farm in North Granby.

John is Sue’s husband, and he has been part of the store for over ten years. He helps in every aspect, from fixing toilets to installing fans and he is an essential part of our everyday activities. His career is an aviation A&P mechanic, but he also works hard on the farm at home. He loves his donkey, Little Man.

Our store manager, Brianna Sotnick, has been a part of our team for the last 4 years. She has been riding horses for 28 years, starting her equestrian career in the Hunter/Jumper ring in southern California, then moved on to Dressage during her time completing her Batchelor degree at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She now competes in Three Day Eventing with her two horses and has held national titles. Not only does she run Horses and Hounds, but she also manages a horse boarding facility, Red Roan Stables, in Southwick Massachusetts. Brianna’s animal experience doesn’t end with horses. She also has multiple dogs at home ranging from Irish Wolfhounds to rescue Terriers. She was an American Kennel Club Junior handler, and then proceeded to become a professional handler in the US and Canada, showing multiple breeds of dogs in venues such as The Westminster Kennel Club dog show.

Sarah Morin is one of our store associates who has 26 years of equestrian experience. For the last 5 years she has been working with a local Morgan breeder producing and caring for show quality horses. Not only does she have hands on experience in the equestrian world, but she also has two dogs (Hope and Emmitt) and two cats (Theo and Sophie) at home.

Dawn has been working at the store for 10 years as a sales associate. She's got a lot of experience with animals, since she has been a vet tech for 35 years at Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital. She also runs Granby 4-H Dairy Club for over 20 years now. Dawn run Maple Wood Farm for 18 years, breeding and milking Holstein Cattle and breeding Dorset Sheep. She raised a Mustang and Kuarter Horse and now she has a dog, two cats and a rabbit.

Matt is our Warehouse and Delivery associate. He has been working at the store for over a year. He is new to the pet industry, but he is learning every day through his coworkers and clients. He owns an adorable dog named Kiki and working at Horses and Hounds has made him a better dog owner.

Amber has been an associate in our store for over 3 years and has lived in the local community her entire life. She has extensive animal care knowledge. She has worked as a Zookeeper, animal care technician, certified obedience instructor, animal care manager, vet tech, and dog walker. She shares her house with 2 cats, 2 Corgis, a house bunny, box turtle, and several fresh and saltwater fish tanks. She also has a small flock of chickens. Her husband and 2 kids help her with the mini zoo.
